VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) is a major network component of our Public Cloud, currently under construction. You will join the squad responsible for continuing its implementation in the OpenStack ecosystem, maturing the service, and supporting it until complete industrialization. As a Senior SDE/SRE with a strong network focus, you will be involved in the entire service lifecycle: design, development, delivery, reliability, and production operation. You will contribute to architectural choices, deliver remaining components, and consolidate existing ones while ensuring scalability, resilience, performance, and security of the service.

The position is highly transversal: the VPC being at the heart of many Public Cloud services, you will regularly collaborate with other OVHcloud teams, including Product Owners, Tech Leads, Architects, and SREs. You will also evolve in a context of increasing integration of artificial intelligence into operations and engineering processes.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design of the VPC service: architectural choices, network model, and structural technical arbitrations, in collaboration with Architects and Tech Leads.
  • Design and deliver missing components of the VPC and consolidate existing ones, particularly leveraging OpenStack Neutron.
  • Prototype, test, and iterate on architectural choices to validate scalability and resilience from the design phase.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, security, and scalability of the service in production.
  • Implement and improve service observability: metrics, logs, alerting, and SLI/SLO.
  • Collaborate with other OVHcloud teams to ensure VPC coherence with the rest of the Public Cloud platform.
  • Identify and implement automation and optimization opportunities, particularly through AI-based agent workflows.
  • Maintain the squad's DevOps standards: code quality, testing, documentation, and automation.
  • Operate and maintain the VPC in production over time: run, incident management, performance, security, and continuous improvement.
  • Actively contribute to the technical roadmap and challenge choices to continuously improve the service.

Your future impact:

  • Mastery of the scope: understand the current state of VPC implementation, the network landscape of the Public Cloud, and the main ongoing projects.
  • Collaboration: establish trusting relationships with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Architects, and SREs.
  • Architecture: be able to propose and challenge architectural evolutions of the service.
  • Delivery: contribute concretely to the advancement of the VPC within a defined scope, whether it involves a new component or consolidating existing ones.
  • Production: contribute to the reliability, observability, and scalability of the service.
  • AI: identify and initiate concrete use cases of artificial intelligence in your work, particularly in design, testing, automation, or observability.
  • Industrialization: contribute to bringing the VPC to a production maturity level with associated SLOs.
  • Expertise: be recognized as an internal reference on the network implementation of the VPC within Public Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Transformation: actively contribute to structural transformations within your scope.
  • Standards: advance squad practices through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and improving technical standards.
  • AI & automation: industrialize AI applications in your scope with measurable gains in efficiency, reliability, or quality.
  • Evolution: mobility to other PCI squads is possible and encouraged to continue your development within the organization.

Required skills:

  • Strong expertise in networking: routing, network isolation, overlays, particularly VXLAN, and SDN technologies.
  • Good knowledge of OpenStack Neutron and the OVN/OVS ecosystem, or significant experience with an equivalent cloud network stack.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering infrastructure services, from design phase to production.
  • Strong mastery of Linux and automation practices.
  • Proficiency in Python or Go.
  • Experience with highly available architectures: infrastructure/code as design, resilience testing, and observability.
  • Mastery of observability practices: metrics, logs, alerting, and SLI/SLO.
  • Mastery of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, Git-based tools, and automated security checks.
  • Strong sensitivity to security and isolation issues in a multi-tenant public cloud environment.
  • Good understanding of AI applications in operations: AIOps, automation, and augmented observability.
  • Fluent English, minimum B2 level.
  • Autonomy and strong ownership of your scope.
  • Adaptability to new, complex, or poorly defined issues.
  • Critical thinking and ability to challenge technical choices.
  • Pragmatism and ability to make technical decisions.
  • Reliability and team spirit in an international environment.
  • Operational serenity under pressure, especially during critical incidents.
  • Technological curiosity and a strong desire for continuous learning.
  • Ability to share your knowledge and advance team practices.

Additional information:

  • Senior position with a strong focus on networking and cloud infrastructure.
  • Technical environment based on OpenStack, Neutron, OVN/OVS, Linux, Python/Go, and CI/CD.
  • Strong exposure to scalability, resilience, security, and isolation issues specific to multi-tenant public cloud.
  • Transversal collaboration with several teams in Public Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Involvement in the entire lifecycle of the VPC, from architecture to production operation.
  • Mobility to other PCI squads is possible and encouraged as part of professional development.
