The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario and offers students and parents a world of choice for learning. Our nearly 150 schools offer a wide range of programs to promote learning excellence and meet the individual needs of students, parents, and the community at large. Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.

We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed teachers to join our team at LePhare Elementary School. Le Phare, meaning "beacon" or "lighthouse" in French, was the first school in Canada to be built as an Early French Immersion centre. LePhare is situated on an exceptionally large field, surrounded by a forested area. The Forest area has been used for science exploration. In the winter, students have enjoyed snowshoeing. The school operates with a Balanced School Day timetable. This schedule divides the day into three blocks of instructional time with two recess/nutrition breaks replacing the traditional two recesses and lunch hour, reducing the time spent in transition between instructional blocks of time.

Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school, and the District, by creating a positive and inclusive school climate, learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being.

If you are already own a part-Time Contract position with the OCDSB, please apply to the respective internal posting. Your application to this posting will not be recognized. Please be advised that our order of consideration for permanent contracts is as follows:

  • Qualified external applicants

Please note that at OCDSB the term contract refers to positions that are permanent and not Long Term Occasional (LTO) or temporary assignments. The French language freeze continues to be in effect. Therefore, if you accept any teaching percentage of French contract, you may only be considered for other French contract positions.
