The role will lead cross-functional and multi-party discussions, prepare executive-level briefings and recommendations, and serve as a primary representative of OPG in engagements with government, industry, partners and other key stakeholders. It will require sound judgment in articulating OPG’s positions, managing sensitive relationships and translating complex policy, commercial and operational considerations into clear actions and decision points for senior management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives: Lead complex, high-priority strategic initiatives from initial assessment through executive decision-making and implementation planning, with an initial focus on OPG’s data center strategy and related business development activities.
  • Provide Policy and Strategic Advice: Monitor and assess provincial government, energy-sector and regulatory priorities; identify implications, risks and opportunities for OPG; and recommend how OPG’s business strategies and activities should respond.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Work: Bring together business units, subsidiaries and subject-matter experts to establish objectives, clarify roles, integrate diverse perspectives and advance coordinated enterprise positions.
  • Lead External Engagement and Represent OPG: Serve as a senior representative of OPG and plan and lead engagements with government, agencies, industry, subsidiaries, potential partners, developers and advisors.
  • Prepare Executive Advice and Briefings: Develop concise, decision-oriented briefing notes, presentations, speaking materials and recommendations for senior executives and governance forums.
  • Lead Meetings and Governance Processes: Establish agendas, prepare pre-read materials, facilitate multi-party meetings and working groups, document decisions and actions, and maintain momentum across interdependent workstreams.
  • Develop and Evaluate Strategic Opportunities: Lead or support the assessment of new business and growth opportunities, including strategic fit, policy alignment, stakeholder considerations, commercial pathways, risks and implementation requirements.
  • Facilitate Enterprise Alignment: Build productive relationships across OPG and its subsidiaries, influence without formal authority, resolve issues and align stakeholders around shared priorities and practical outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year University education in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Finance (MFin) is considered an asset.
  • Over 4 years’ experience working in strategy, policy, business development or related field, preferably within the energy or public policy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple business units, external organizations or senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario’s energy sector and government policy environment, with demonstrated ability to assess policy and regulatory developments and translate them into business implications and strategic recommendations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated experience building executive-level briefing notes, presentations, recommendations and speaking materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate senior-level or multi-party meetings, establish clear agendas and decision points, manage competing perspectives and drive discussions toward practical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without formal authority, build productive relationships across organizational boundaries and advance complex initiatives involving diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience representing an organization with senior government, industry, partner or other external stakeholders, with the judgment and discretion required to communicate corporate positions and navigate high-profile or sensitive discussions.

The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.
