Shape media strategy for the Ontario NDP in a full time, permanent Media Relations Officer role based at Queen's Park. Apply journalism, writing, and political judgment. This position assists the Leader and Caucus with public, parliamentary, and Caucus responsibilities. You will coordinate media relations strategies, deliver the NDP message across Ontario, and support communications, research, and MPP staff. The role requires strong editing and research capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute media activities disseminating Leader and Caucus platforms
- Develop media relations strategies and public relations projects
- Write, edit, and distribute releases, speeches, and articles
- Monitor coverage and provide politically savvy analysis
- Coordinate press conferences, interviews, and photo opportunities
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, or related fields
- Journalism or media relations experience, preferably politically
- Knowledge of Ontario government and Legislature operations
- Excellent political judgment, writing, and editing skills
- Willingness to work irregular hours and travel
- Bring Ontario media knowledge, strategic communications expertise, and concise writing to support the NDP Leader and Caucus.
