The Manager of Materials Coordination leads a cross-border team responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of materials management processes across Canadian and U.S. project portfolios. This role ensures alignment with corporate supply chain strategies, supports project execution excellence, and drives commercial value through standardization, bulk purchasing, and surplus optimization.

What you'll do

  • Team Leadership & Strategy: Lead and develop a centralized team of Materials Coordinators (MCs) across Canada and the U.S., ensuring consistent practices and high performance. Champion the integration of MCs earlier in project lifecycles to improve planning, reduce delays, and enhance cost control.
  • Process Optimization & Standardization: Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Material Coordination Process and associated tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards, SAP workflows). Drive alignment with Supply Chain (SC) initiatives such as Scope of Supply and annual bulk pipe purchases, and S4 Hana implementation.
  • Surplus & Inventory Management: Lead surplus material strategies including project-to-project transfers, asset recovery, and disposition planning. Collaborate with Asset Recovery and SC to ensure surplus visibility and cost recovery mechanisms are in place.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between Project Managers, Procurement, Engineering, and Warehousing to ensure seamless material flow and issue resolution. Support governance and compliance with SC policies, including material transfer pricing and inter-LOB cost allocations.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Utilize dashboards and KPIs to monitor material request turnaround, requisition status, and delivery performance. Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders on team performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Change Management & Communication: Manage organizational transitions, including team restructuring and role clarity between centralized and field MCs. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in materials management, project management, or construction management, with relevant leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, procurement processes, and inventory systems (SAP, PIMS, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills.
