We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience. Candidates should have some form of administrative or office background. Previous experience in a legal environment is an asset, and experience with real estate transactions is particularly valuable.

We encourage applications from experienced Legal Assistants and Paralegals who are looking to further develop their careers in a collegial and busy property practice. At the same time, candidates who are new to the legal field but bring strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn should not hesitate to apply.

More importantly, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn and grow as part of our team.

The Role:

Working closely with our lawyers, paralegals and other members of the team, you will assist with all aspects of our busy property practice.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing, formatting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents;
  • Opening, maintaining and closing client files;
  • Communicating professionally with clients, lawyers, lenders, government offices and other third parties;
  • Managing deadlines, appointments and file follow-ups;
  • Assisting with client intake and gathering information and documentation;
  • Preparing documents for execution, including electronic signing;
  • Organizing and maintaining electronic files and records;
  • Assisting with purchase, sale and financing transactions;
  • Preparing accounts and assisting with file administration; and
  • Providing general administrative and paralegal support as required.

What We're Looking For:

The right person for this role will have:

  • Some previous administrative or office experience;
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • A professional and personable approach when dealing with clients;
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and competing priorities;
  • Strong computer skills and confidence learning new systems;
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
  • A positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn;
  • Previous legal experience or a Legal Assistant/Paralegal diploma, considered an asset; and
  • Experience with real estate transactions, considered an asset but not required.

Why Arcus Legal?

We are proud of the supportive and collegial environment we have built at Arcus. As a mid-sized firm, we offer the opportunity to work as part of a close-knit team while being exposed to a variety of interesting legal work.
We value people who are collaborative, dependable and willing to help one another. We work hard, but we also believe that enjoying where you work and the people you work with matters.

For someone new to real estate law, this is an opportunity to learn from an experienced team and develop practical skills in a busy property practice.
