The Southeast Regional Invasive Species and Climate Change Network (SE RISCC) is a regional network embedded within the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (SE CASC) at NC State and funded by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). SE RISCC’s mission is to synthesize relevant science, connect researchers with land managers, and improve proactive invasive species management in a changing environment across the southeastern United States and U.S. Caribbean.
The SE RISCC Program Coordinator brings together researchers, land managers, policymakers, and partner organizations to address invasive species and climate-related challenges across the Southeast and U.S. Caribbean. The role spans regional network coordination, scientific synthesis, knowledge exchange, and actionable research—helping move ideas and findings from research settings into practical tools, informed decisions, and on-the-ground management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the SE RISCC Network:
- Develop regional work plans with SE RISCC and SE CASC leadership and the Advisory Board.
- Coordinate Leadership and Advisory Committee meetings, agendas, and partner communications.
- Lead network communications, webinars, and website content.
- Identify emerging research needs and collaborate with scientists and partners to address them.
- Advance Scientific Synthesis and Actionable Research:
- Identify and coordinate high-priority research themes and collaborative projects addressing invasive species and climate-related management needs.
- Synthesize research findings into manager-focused briefs, management resources, decision-support materials, and other practical tools.
- Lead or coordinate actionable science efforts that connect research with the needs of managers and policymakers.
- Engage students, postdocs, and faculty in applied research and synthesis activities that contribute to regional management solutions.
- Coordinate Events, Webinars, and Communities of Practice:
- Plan and coordinate regional workshops, webinars, partner meetings, and manager-focused training.
- Facilitate communities of practice focused on priorities such as early detection, rapid response, climate-informed risk assessment, and management interventions.
- Create opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration across the region.
- Contribute to network reporting, evaluation, and communications.
- Engage with National, Interagency, and Inter-Regional Networks:
- Represent SE RISCC in national RISCC and inter-regional network coordination.
- Connect regional priorities with applicable federal strategies and broader invasive species initiatives.
If you like to take initiative, work independently while contributing to a collaborative team, and connect people and ideas across different backgrounds, sectors, and disciplines, this role offers an opportunity to turn high-quality science into meaningful action.

- Other Required Qualifications: Strong communication skills (written and oral), excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with at least two years of professional experience in natural resource management, ecology, environmental science, climate science, or a related field.
