This hybrid role requires at least three weekly office days. As a Character Surfacing / Look Development Artist, you will support upcoming CG feature films. You will create production-ready surfacing while preserving artistic intent from designs and references. The work emphasizes characters, creatures, costumes, stylized textures, shaders, grooming, and UV layout. Key Responsibilities:
Create textures through hand-painted and procedural workflows Develop stylized and physically plausible shaders Interpret designs and references for production surfacing Maintain project style and department standards Communicate with leadership, production, and teammates Requirements:
Three-plus years in shading, surfacing, and texturing Three-plus years in animated features, VFX films, or episodics Proficiency with Mari and Maya Strong visual, technical, communication, and organizational skills Understanding of lighting, colour theory, standards, conventions, and formats Apply character artistry, Mari, Maya, and technical surfacing expertise to Netflix Animation Studios feature film production in Vancouver.
