Habitat Volunteer Construction Coordinator in Alton

Volunteer leadership anchors this Build Coordinator position with Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay. Lead site orientations, safety briefings, crews, and construction activities.

This experienced coordinator oversees Habitat homes and supports volunteers, contractors, trades, partner families, and community partners. Responsibilities span construction scheduling, budgets, procurement, inspections, quality expectations, and regulatory compliance. The position also contributes to a safe, positive volunteer experience throughout Northwestern Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recruit, train, supervise, and support construction volunteers
• Conduct site orientations, safety briefings, and skill-based assignments
• Coordinate volunteer groups, corporate build days, and engagement activities
• Inspect sites, assess hazards, investigate incidents, and report safety matters
• Support partner families through homebuilding and homeowner education

Requirements:

• Experience leading volunteers, crews, contractors, trades, or project teams
• Strong leadership, communication, engagement, and relationship-building abilities
• Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and safety requirements
• Working at Heights and WHMIS certification, or willingness to obtain
• Ability to navigate active sites and perform physical duties
