The Role: We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Java & Enterprise Integration to lead the day-to-day technical delivery of an enterprise integration workstream. You will provide hands-on technical leadership while managing a distributed development team, translating the Solution Architect’s designs into production-quality implementations across APIs, orchestration services, and event-driven integrations.
You will work closely with the Solution Architect and Integration Delivery Lead to ensure the team’s implementation remains aligned with the target architecture, delivery commitments, and enterprise engineering standards.
You Will:
- Lead day-to-day technical delivery for the development pod building the integration layer, balancing hands-on technical leadership with direct people management.
- Manage developers across the distributed team, including task allocation, workload balancing, mentoring, performance feedback, and day-to-day technical support.
- Translate Solution Architect designs into concrete implementation tasks, establish coding standards, and lead code reviews.
- Own the implementation of backend business APIs for the creation and retrieval of core business records and the orchestration services connecting them.
- Lead implementation of event-driven integrations, including publishing and consuming business events and synchronizing downstream systems through Kafka.
- Work with the Solution Architect on integration patterns, API contracts, and canonical data mappings and ensure implementation remains aligned with the target architecture.
- Champion modern Java and Spring Boot engineering practices, including performance, concurrency, testability, security, and cloud-native deployment.
- Identify and escalate technical risks, contribute to estimates as integration requirements evolve, and provide visibility into team progress and capacity.
Who You Are:
- You have 10+ years of backend development experience, including 4+ years in a technical lead role with responsibility for managing developers.
- You have demonstrated experience managing development teams day to day, including task allocation, capacity planning, mentoring, performance feedback, and delivery oversight.
- You remain hands-on with modern Java (Java 17/21 LTS) and are familiar with capabilities such as records, sealed classes, pattern matching, and text blocks.
- You have strong experience with Spring Boot 3.x / Spring Framework 6, building REST APIs and backend services.
- You understand modern Java concurrency, including virtual threads (Project Loom) or equivalent approaches for high-throughput, I/O-bound workloads.
- You have hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies, including producers, consumers, topics, and partitions.
- You have experience designing and implementing contract-first REST APIs and securing APIs using OAuth2/OIDC.
- You have successfully led distributed onshore/offshore development teams through complete delivery cycles, including task breakdown, code reviews, delivery cadence, and reporting.
- You are comfortable with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions and enterprise code-quality and security practices.
