Summary
The DZ Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe, timely collection of residential waste streams, including yard waste, recycling, and garbage. This role ensures proper waste disposal in compliance with safety, environmental, and municipal regulations while delivering courteous and reliable service to the community.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for Residential Waste Collections, including safe operation of Rear Loader truck.
- Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service.
- Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule to ensure all collected various waste streams are delivered to local Transfer Stations, Compost Facilities or Landfill Sites efficiently.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, the MTO, Ministry of Environment, and municipal by-laws.
- Work with employees, management, residents, and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner.
- Ensure all waste receptacles that are emptied into the collection vehicle are placed back on the resident's property, flipped upside down at the curb.
- Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the hopper.
- Make in excess of 800 residential stops per day.
Competencies & Qualifications
- Successful candidates will have a valid DZ Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract and no preventable accidents in the past year.
- Minimum 1 year experience on each type of equipment is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility with your work schedule is necessary as start and end times may vary.
- Effective written and verbal communication is required.
