Looking for your next welding project? Matrix Camps, Logistics & Aviation is hiring two Journeyman Welders for an approximately two-week container reinforcement assignment. If you’re between contracts or looking for short-term work that puts your fabrication and fit-up skills to use, we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll work alongside another Journeyman Welder to reinforce three 40-foot open-top shipping containers with 6-inch and 3-inch C-channel steel, following Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings. This is a hands-on project where careful layout, accurate fit-up and quality welding will directly contribute to the finished installation.

With steel ordered in pre-cut lengths and operator support available where required, you’ll have a defined scope of work and support for positioning materials. We’re looking for welders who take pride in their workmanship, communicate well and can keep the job moving safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret IFC drawings to plan reinforcement locations and installation requirements.
  • Prepare container surfaces and steel components for clean, accurate fit-up and welding.
  • Position, fit and weld pre-cut C-channel reinforcement according to project drawings.
  • Verify measurements, alignment and component orientation before completing welds.
  • Inspect completed work and address deficiencies to meet project quality requirements.
  • Work with your welding partner and equipment operators to coordinate installation and safely position materials.
  • Follow site safety procedures, including hot-work requirements, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyman Welder certification.
  • Hands-on experience in steel fabrication, fit-up and welding.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Strong attention to measurements, alignment and weld quality.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with another welder and the site team.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with on-site welding and installation.
  • Availability to deploy within the next one to two weeks and complete an approximately two-week assignment.
