Build AI-powered search and retrieval systems at MaintainX, using distributed systems expertise and modern machine learning tooling. This role supports a cloud platform for frontline workers. As a Senior Software Developer, you will design end-to-end search across work orders, assets, and procedures. You will work with indexing pipelines, ranking systems, AI-facing query layers, and upstream data integrations. The work includes semantic search, vector retrieval, relevance tuning, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design indexing pipelines and ranking systems for search
- Model search across work orders, assets, and procedures
- Operate distributed systems for reliability and scalability
- Drive architectural decisions balancing performance and maintainability
- Handle business-hours on-call duties
Requirements:
- Production search systems experience using Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Lucene, Solr, or similar
- Knowledge of embeddings, chunking, and retrieval strategies
- Familiarity with analyzers, BM25, shard sizing, and cluster health
- Experience across backend services, data pipelines, and integrations
- Experience improving relevance through qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Bring search architecture, retrieval, distributed systems, and AI experience to MaintainX’s operational platform for industrial teams.
