The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing full cycle accounting functions including preparation of financial reports for several Company-operated stores.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for full cycle accounting for several company operated stores (A/P, Financial Reporting).
• Essential to understand Financial Statements and full cycle accounting.
• Prepare and process month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with given timelines.
• Import, reconcile, and validate sales and other Store data within the accounting system (NetSuite).
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and maintain supporting schedules.
• Review accounting transactions, reports, investigate variances, and provide explanations for unusual activity.
• Maintain the general ledger and support documentation for assigned Company operated stores.
• Receive, review, and process financial and operational materials submitted by company-operated stores.
• Work with team and Operations to ensure accurate presentation of financial activity.
• Provide Supporting documentation for annual audits of Company-operated stores.
• Organize and box accounting records for secure storage and retrieval.
• Maintain store year end information including fiscal year-end dates and statement tracking.
• Review, scan, and digitally file financial statements and supporting documents received from franchise partners.
• Validate and enter Financial Statement information received into FDS.

Other Duties:

• Assist with Business license applications / renewals for Quebec company operated stores.
• Set up / close utilities, security and other vendor accounts for new/transferred stores.
• Provide Bookkeeping Training in French to new franchise partners.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Minimum two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience performing full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to understand and interpret financial statements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple standard and ad hoc responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Language Requirements:

• Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal).
• Ability to effectively communicate financial information in both official languages.
