About the Opportunity
Our client, an established and technology forward Canadian law firm, is looking for an Associate Business Development Lawyer to join their growing team! This role is ideal for a lawyer early in their career who communicates clearly, enjoys working directly with clients, and wants a different kind of legal career. You will work with warm inbound prospects only, so there is no cold calling, no court and no late nights.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Advise prospective clients, assess their immigration situation and convert interest into signed retainers
- Own each client relationship from first conversation through retainer, working with the team that handles the file
- Carry a monthly revenue target after a 90 day ramp, with full training and support
- Use AI tools every day to research, prepare, follow up and manage your pipeline
- Share feedback with internal technology teams to help improve intake and client follow up
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Member in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society, 1 to 3 years post call (RCICs in good standing with the CICC are also welcome)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex situations clearly and build trust with first time clients
- Comfort with a client facing role where a large part of pay is commission (no prior sales experience needed)
- Hands on experience with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT
- A fast learner who enjoys a fast paced environment
- Immigration experience is an asset but not required
About the Job
- This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with other major Canadian cities considered
- Base salary of $80,000 to $100,000 plus uncapped commission, with total earning potential of $150,000 to $180,000
- Flexible hours and flexible vacation
