About the Role

We are seeking a battle-tested, hands-on Senior Tax Accountant with 8+ years of deep Canadian Corporate Tax experience to own and drive our tax function.

This is not a management roleβ€”this is a role for a technical expert who loves rolling up their sleeves, digging into the Income Tax Act, and getting the job done.

From Day 1, you will be expected to take ownership of T2 filings, tax provisions, CRA audits, and strategic planning.

If you thrive in an environment where you are trusted to "crack on" without constant supervision, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate Tax Compliance
  • Prepare, review, and file complex T2 Corporate Income Tax returns for multiple entities (Canadian-controlled private corporations, subsidiaries, and partnerships).
  • Handle federal and provincial tax filings across multiple jurisdictions (ON, QC, AB, BC, etc.).
  • Manage installment payments, tax remittances, and year-end filings.
  • Ensure compliance with CRA guidelines, GST/HST, and other indirect taxes where applicable.
  • Prepare T1134, T106, T5013, NR4, and other information returns as required.
  • Tax Provisioning & Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASPE and/or IFRS.
  • Draft tax notes and disclosures for financial statements.
  • Reconcile current and deferred tax accounts.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits.
  • Tax Planning & Strategy
  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities: SR&ED credits, CCA optimization, loss utilization, restructuring, and intercompany transactions.
  • Advise on tax implications of business decisions (M&A, expansion, contracts, capital transactions).
  • Stay ahead of federal and provincial legislative changes and assess impact on the organization.
  • Audit & CRA Defense
  • Lead and manage CRA audits, reviews, and inquiries.
  • Prepare response packages, notices of objection, and voluntary disclosures.
  • Liaise directly with CRA representatives and external tax advisors.
  • Process Improvement & Automation
  • Identify inefficiencies in the tax workflow and automate manual processes.
  • Build and maintain tax models, trackers, and dashboards.
  • Document tax policies and procedures for scalability.
