Why is this role important? Loblaw Digital is the team responsible for building and operating the online businesses of Canada’s largest and most successful retailer. Based in downtown Toronto, we are an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and collaborative team working towards transforming the way Canadians shop by creating leading eCommerce experiences in various sectors.

What you'll do:
- As a technical leader, you will assist the team in building, improving, and maintaining a world-class digital ecosystem.
- You will lead a team of engineers and software development managers in designing, developing, integrating, and testing services and platforms.
- You should have extensive experience designing and building microservices on the cloud and web applications.
- Expect to take ownership of technical vision and strategy, lead key architectural decisions, mentor a growing team, and uphold high standards in operational excellence and production availability.
- Ensure that the platform for our eCommerce solution scales to meet ambitious growth targets while addressing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team in a rapid development environment.
- Ensure consistent and timely delivery of new digital experiences across multiple web interfaces.
- Apply the right development approach based on project and business needs.
- Communicate project status and issues concisely to executives.
- Collaborate with multiple business and technical teams to define and deliver complex features.
- Plan and manage multiple parallel projects.
- Work with the product management team to continuously improve our product development methodologies.
- Recruit and retain top development talent.
What you bring:
- 3+ years of experience in a senior management or director level role, preferably in retail digital eCommerce.
- A passion for writing good software and making wise tradeoffs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
- History of driving clear action and ownership among large development teams.
- A true leader who inspires their team to do their best work.
- Hands-on technologist who can engage with senior developers.
- Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.
