If you just finished a summer working at a front desk, visitor centre, tour company or tasting room, this role is built for you. You already know the businesses we call. Now you'll help them reach visitors next season! This is a remote-friendly, flexible, temporary sales role for November to March.

About Landmark Media: Landmark publishes the free visitor maps you've seen in hotel lobbies, at YVR, on BC Ferries and in visitor centres across BC. We print about 1.4 million copies a year across 18 publications, from Whistler and Vancouver to Tofino, the Okanagan and the Sunshine Coast. Local businesses advertise on the maps so visitors can find them. We're a small, friendly team, and we've been putting BC businesses on the map for years.

What you'll do:

  • You'll call restaurants and tourism businesses across BC.
  • The work has three parts: signing up restaurants for Vancouver Eats, finding businesses that have never advertised on our maps, and getting businesses booked on our upcoming maps early, at full price, before the deadline rush.
  • Your job is to start the conversation, find out whether we're a fit, and book a short call with our senior account manager, who handles pricing and closes the sale.
  • We'll aim for you to make about 50 calls a day from prepared lists.
  • Have real conversations with owners and managers about how visitors find them.
  • Book qualified meetings, send follow-up emails and keep notes in Salesforce.
  • Eventually, you might close your own leads.
  • You'll get a playbook with scripts, rate cards and answers to common objections to work from, so you can be calling by your second day.

Who we're looking for:

  • You're comfortable on the phone, and a "no" doesn't ruin your afternoon.
  • You're very happy making dozens of cold phone calls per day to restaurants and tourism businesses.
  • You're organized enough to log every call and follow up when you said you would.
  • You can write a clear, friendly two-line email.
  • You're available for around 20 hours a week on weekdays from mid November to the end of March, and you have your own laptop, phone and a quiet spot to work.
  • Tourism experience: Hotel front desk or concierge, visitor centre, tour or activity operator, winery tasting room, restaurant management, or seasonal resort work.
  • Ad sales experience: Community newspaper, radio, magazine or directory advertising.
  • You know at least one BC region well, such as Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver Island or the Okanagan.
  • You've used Salesforce or another CRM.
  • No degree needed.

Compensation:

  • If you hit sales targets, total pay works out to about $14,000 to $15,000 for the season, roughly $33 to $35 an hour.
  • The base hourly rate is $22 to $24, depending on experience.
  • As an independent contractor, you'll invoice us and handle your own income tax and CPP.
  • Meeting bonus: $20 for each qualified meeting our account manager accepts, paid monthly.
  • Commission: 8% of first-year revenue on every ad you sourced, paid monthly once the advertiser pays.
  • Return bonus: $500 when you come back the next fall, paid after your first full month back.

We're filling this role quickly. Applications are reviewed as they come in, with interviews starting right away. The job posting will close on Friday November 6th, so definitely get back to us by then.
