Teach with Purpose at Lakeland Catholic School Division. Assumption Junior Senior High School is home to approximately 760 students in the beautiful northeastern Alberta community of Cold Lake. We are seeking a Junior High Humanities Teacher who will bring thoughtful instruction, enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to Catholic education to our dedicated team. This is an opportunity to help students explore ideas, strengthen their literacy, and develop confidence in their learning within a school community that recognizes and celebrates their God-given potential. This position is offered on an interim contract, with the possibility of future contracts with the Division.
As part of our teaching team, you will:
- Design humanities lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum that invite questions, connect ideas, and help students develop as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
- Use meaningful assessment and feedback to recognize student progress and guide the next steps in learning.
- Create a classroom where students feel they belong, adapting instruction to their strengths and learning needs.
- Work alongside colleagues and families to support students and take an active part in the Catholic life of the school.
What You Bring
- A valid Alberta teaching certificate or Letter of Authority by the start of employment.
- An understanding of the relevant Alberta curriculum and teaching practices aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, together with a collaborative approach to working with others.
- A commitment to Catholic education, student well-being, and continued professional growth.
- Experience teaching junior high humanities would be an asset.
