Support clean, safe residence facilities at Lakehead University as a Caretaker using custodial, housekeeping, and general maintenance skills. Work Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Reporting to the Manager of Residence Facilities and Operations, the Caretaker supports Residence Services across student housing and conference facilities. The work includes cleaning, housekeeping turnovers, event setup, and minor maintenance tasks. Duties support students, staff, conference guests, visitors, and daily facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain cleanliness standards in student housing
- Complete housekeeping turnovers for hotel and suite accommodations
- Set up furniture and equipment for residence functions
- Maintain floors using appropriate cleaning equipment
- Remove garbage and recycling from assigned locations
Requirements:
- Experience in custodial work and using small hand tools
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to operate vacuums, scrubbers, extractors, and buffing machines
- Current WHMIS certification or ability to complete required training
- Valid appropriate-class driver's license and good driving record
