As a Senior Civil Engineer, you would engage in:

  • Applying senior civil engineering judgment to mine tailings and water management projects from study phase through to detailed design and construction-ready deliverables.
  • Developing practical design concepts for earthfill dams, spillways, large-scale excavations, and surface water control structures.
  • Bringing a strong constructability lens to design development, balancing cost-effective solutions with appropriate understanding of project risk.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (specialist geotechnical, hydrotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, hydrogeologists, and geochemists) to advance design concepts into IFC drawings and specifications.
  • Providing clear direction and technical input to CAD teams completing Civil 3D modelling and drafting work.
  • Supporting construction projects with office support to field engineers, field reviews, and preparing construction summary reports.
  • Clearly communicating sound, risk-informed designs and recommendations to project teams and senior technical reviewers.

What We Require:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering; a master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 10 to 15 years of civil engineering experience, preferably within mining or related heavy civil environments.
  • Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • Experience taking civil design concepts from study-level assessment through to detailed design.
  • Strong understanding of constructability, including field constraints and construction sequencing.
  • Experience with earthworks, dams, spillways, large excavations, and mine infrastructure (e.g., geomembrane liners, HDPE pipes).
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D, with the ability to guide design development and collaborate effectively with CAD teams.
  • Experience providing construction support.
  • Experience in a safety-focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements.

In addition to the must-have requirements, you will excel in the role if you have:

  • A willingness to mentor others and be mentored.
  • An ability to build trust and respect with clients, colleagues, construction teams, and industry partners.
  • A flexible mindset with a focus on seeking solutions rather than focusing on problems.
