About Us

We are an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients across North America and beyond. Our team of engineers, scientists, technologists and support staff is dedicated to excellence in engineering and project management. We believe a commitment to lasting relationships is just as critical as the expertise applied in our work. To us that means we put our people first. From professional development opportunities to an open, flexible and collaborative work environment, a career at KGS is like no other. Working with us means you’ll be part of some of the most interesting projects across Canada, the U.S. and beyond. We believe we set our own boundaries by what we’re willing to attempt and strive to push the limit on what’s possible. That’s the KGS way.

The Role

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team in our Saskatchewan offices. As part of the Project Delivery Group, this role would assist with engineering project management services related to design and construction. You will be working in a friendly, fast-paced, and collaborative environment with opportunities to interface with clients, contractors, and KGS leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as project manager for internal engineering design projects with a specific focus on scoping, leading, or supporting multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Act in a “project-management-for-hire” capacity such as Owner’s Engineer or Owner’s Advocate roles.
  • Provide or coordinate project services support – scheduling, estimating, procurement support, technical administration – to other project managers and internal stakeholders.
  • Help to develop project management tools, templates, and processes.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day project administration: emails, memos, reports, meetings, action item tracking, permit applications, drawing markups, etc.
  • Developing or modifying project commercial documents and participating in procurement processes.
  • Project-related field services such as inspection, auditing, supervision, quality assurance, safety, and contractor management.
  • Office-related construction services such as invoice review and payment certification, schedule updates, permitting submissions, etc.
  • Leveraging both training and experience, provide or coordinate multi-disciplinary technical and constructability review of drawings, specifications, work plans, etc.
  • Provide mentorship to new and junior project staff.
  • Provide environmental and safety leadership both externally and internally.
  • Lead proposal responses including content creation, hours & fee estimate creation, and coordinate inputs from other departments as required.
  • Assist with business development and client relations.
  • Other tasks as required.

About You

To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualification and previous experiences. Some highlights could include:

  • Engineering degree and 5+ years of experience in project management, project engineering, or construction management.
  • In lieu of an engineering degree, experienced CET or Engineering Licensees will be considered.
  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated construction, contract administration, and field experience preferred.
  • Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Water Resource, or Industrial engineering degrees preferred.
  • Experience working in dams, industrial, mining, heavy civil, infrastructure, or general contracting environments preferred.
  • Ability to travel and service multiple concurrent project sites within, and possibly outside, Saskatchewan. Absence from base is anticipated to be 1-2 days per week with infrequent week-long periods of resident services on project sites.
  • A driven, hands-on, task-oriented, organized, practical, and self-motivated personality with a demonstrated ability to own their work, maintain project momentum, and drive projects to completion.
  • You are the type of person who can organize chaos and make things happen.
  • Strong mentorship skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently, and within tight timelines.
  • Strong diplomacy, communication (both written and verbal), and change-management skills.
  • Ability to distinguish critical from non-critical elements and both communicate and chart a forward path.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
