We are looking for an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join a platform engineering team supporting enterprise cloud environments and application teams. The role combines hands-on platform engineering with support for application teams consuming shared cloud services. The successful candidate will work with infrastructure-as-code, cloud networking, database services and supporting platform components, troubleshooting issues and helping application teams successfully consume standardized cloud capabilities.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong Terraform skills, solid cloud infrastructure knowledge and the ability to independently diagnose infrastructure and connectivity issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and support reusable infrastructure-as-code components using Terraform.
- Support application teams consuming shared cloud platform services and troubleshoot infrastructure-related requests and issues.
- Work with managed database services and supporting infrastructure, including database provisioning, configuration, connectivity and security.
- Support cloud security and encryption capabilities including customer-managed keys (CMK) and Key Vault integrations.
- Diagnose and resolve cloud networking issues across platform and application environments.
- Work within GitHub-based engineering workflows, repositories and CI/CD processes.
- Develop and maintain automation and supporting tooling using Python; experience with Go is beneficial.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across infrastructure, application connectivity and shared platform services.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and client/application teams, working to externally driven priorities and delivery timelines.
- Contribute to the continued development and improvement of reusable cloud platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Terraform experience developing and maintaining production infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, including networking concepts, routing, connectivity, DNS, network security and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting managed database infrastructure, ideally including PostgreSQL or similar managed relational database platforms.
- Experience with cloud security services such as Key Vault, encryption and customer-managed keys.
- Strong experience using GitHub for source control and collaborative engineering.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Ability to work directly with application/client teams and independently drive technical issues through resolution.
Additional Assets
- Experience with Go.
- Experience developing or maintaining GitHub Actions workflows.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container platforms.
- Experience building reusable enterprise cloud platform modules and standardized infrastructure patterns.
- Experience working in a large, regulated enterprise environment.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on cloud/platform engineer who is equally comfortable working in Terraform, investigating a database or networking problem, and helping an application team consume a shared platform capability. This person should be capable of working independently, troubleshooting complex infrastructure problems and contributing directly to production-grade platform code.
