CORA Group is a vertical SaaS acquirer with a growing software portfolio. We’re looking for a senior commercial lawyer to own the contracts function across multiple portfolio companies in separate vertical markets. This is a high-volume, hands-on role with minimal supervision. You’ll operate independently and improve process alongside Senior Legal Counsel, not just respond to requests.
What You’ll Do
- Lead commercial contract negotiations end-to-end across SaaS agreements, MSAs, NDAs, payment processing, referral/reseller, and professional services arrangements.
- Contribute to improving templates, playbooks, and contracting processes.
- Apply and maintain legal playbooks to ensure consistent, defensible positions across the portfolio.
- Redline and negotiate directly with counterparties and their counsel.
- Identify and escalate material legal or risk issues with a clear recommendation (not just a flag).
- Advise internal commercial teams on contract risk in plain language.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of commercial contracts experience, with meaningful in-house or high-volume contracting time.
- Proven ability to negotiate independently with sophisticated counterparties.
- Strong judgment: know when to hold a position, when to move, and when to escalate.
- Comfort working across multiple deal types, businesses, and industries concurrently.
- Familiarity with SaaS business models and software agreement risk.
- Experience building and following structured legal frameworks (playbooks, escalation protocols).
- Multi-jurisdiction experience an asset (Canada, US, UK, Australia).
What This Is Not
This role is not for someone who needs significant oversight, wants to specialize narrowly, or is looking for a traditional environment. Expect ambiguity, volume, and independent decision-making.
