We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Oakville, Ontario in a contract-to-permanent opportunity.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can support accurate financial reporting, strengthen month-end activities, and work effectively across multiple finance functions.
The successful candidate will bring strong reconciliation expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Record and post journal entries to maintain an accurate and up-to-date general ledger.- Perform bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations while identifying and resolving outstanding items promptly.- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and supporting timely completion of deliverables.- Maintain well-organized accounting records and supporting files to ensure audit readiness and documentation accuracy.- Examine financial activity for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal accounting practices and reporting requirements.- Prepare financial reports and provide support in the development of financial statements and related analysis.- Investigate variances, research discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions to improve accuracy in financial results.- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and controlling teams to coordinate information and resolve accounting issues.- Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and responding to finance-related inquiries.- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on involvement with month-end close activities.- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system.- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and solve problems effectively.- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when managing financial records.- Ability to work under tight timelines and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced business environment.- CPA designation, or active progress toward completion, would be considered an asset.
