As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial reporting, audits, and compliance for all operating entities within the company. You will oversee month-end closing processes, budgeting, and tax filings, working closely with auditors to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance for both U.S. and Canadian operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statements Preparation: Prepare and consolidate financial statements for all operating entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with both U.S. GAAP and Canadian accounting standards. Provide variance analysis and financial reports to management on a regular basis.
  • Month-End Closing & Budgeting: Manage month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Oversee the preparation and review of month-end budgets, ensuring proper alignment with company financial goals and forecasts.
  • Audit File Preparation: Prepare audit files and act as the primary contact for external auditors during year-end audits. Ensure compliance with audit requirements for both U.S. and Canadian entities, facilitating a smooth audit process.
  • Tax Compliance: Work with external auditors and tax consultants to prepare and file corporate tax returns for both U.S. and Canadian companies. Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and other applicable tax requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and implications for the construction industry in both regions.
  • Cross-Border Accounting: Manage financial operations and tax compliance for entities operating in both the U.S. and Canada. Ensure seamless integration and financial reporting between the two jurisdictions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance.
  • Experience working with both U.S. and Canadian entities, particularly in the construction or real estate sector, is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Canadian accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
