Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative General Accountant to join their finance team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and subledgers
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and internal reporting packages
- Help ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
- Contribute to process improvements within the accounting function
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional accounting designation completed or in progress is considered an asset
- Experience in a general accounting or similar accounting role
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting month-end close
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Experience in account reconciliations and financial analysis
