A great opportunity comes around every so often. The Eganville Leader, one of Canada’s most successful Community Newspapers is looking for a strong editorial leader. This position is meant to replace our long time Editor who is looking to retire. This is an amazing opportunity for the right individual who is looking for a challenge and a nice community to relocate. Located in the Ottawa Valley this is a great place to live and work.
Responsibilities
- assign stories to reporters and freelancers.
- cover and write multiple bylines each week.
- edit all content prior to publication and decide what content goes in the paper.
- help layout the newspaper weekly with InDesign.
- be involved in community events and represent the newspaper.
Qualifications
- strong desire to drive our team to meet the strong standards we have set in local news coverage.
- ability and enjoy interacting with staff and the public.
- college or university degree in journalism.
- 3-5 years’ experience working as an editor in a local community newspaper.
- excellent communication skills.
- proficient in InDesign layout.
- working knowledge of social media and website applications.
- valid driver’s license with reliable automobile.
