Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Dev Ops Engineer to build and develop the infrastructure and deployment platform supporting Telesat’s Lightspeed satellite constellation.
This individual will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing Git Lab CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks from the ground up, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of an Azure-based deployment environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Git Lab CI/CD pipeline architecture, Git workflows, Docker containerization, and deployment automation across a multi-technology monorepo environment supporting Java, Python, and C++ applications.
You will work closely with multiple development teams to streamline software delivery, implement quality gates, troubleshoot pipeline failures, and improve observability through monitoring and visualization tools.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools, such as Open AI Codex, to enhance test automation, pipeline execution, and intelligent troubleshooting is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Git Lab CI/CD pipelines, including reusable templates, merge trains, and multi-project pipeline configurations.
- Develop and optimize Git branching strategies and monorepo workflows across multiple programming languages.
- Build and maintain Dockerfiles, troubleshoot container configurations, and support containerized application deployments.
- Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline deployment processes, pipeline execution, and testing.
- Implement pre-commit hooks, code quality checks, and automated quality gates throughout the CI/CD lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures by analyzing logs, diagnosing issues, and resolving problems across Java, Python, and C++ environments.
- Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and visualization solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki to improve pipeline visibility and operational insights.
- Work extensively in Linux environments, using command-line tools to manage, debug, and optimize development and deployment workflows.
- Explore and implement AI-assisted automation using tools such as Codex to trigger tests, analyze results, identify potential bugs, and support automated troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with development teams to establish scalable, reliable, and maintainable Dev Ops infrastructure.
Skills and Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on Dev Ops, build engineering, or CI/CD automation experience.
- Strong practical experience with Git Lab CI/CD, including pipeline design, reusable templates, merge trains, and multi-project pipelines.
- Solid understanding of Git branching strategies and monorepo workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, including writing and troubleshooting Dockerfiles.
- Scripting and automation experience for deployment workflows and pipeline management.
- Experience implementing pre-commit hooks, automated testing, and code quality gates.
- Strong Linux command-line skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience working with Java, Python, or C++ codebases, with Java preferred.
- Interest or experience in applying AI-assisted tools, particularly Codex, to software development and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki for monitoring, logging, and dashboard visualization.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm charts.
- Experience with artifact management solutions such as JFrog Artifactory.
