The Contract Project Manager in this role will join our clients Technology Enablement team. In this role, you will lead high-visibility technology initiatives centered on Salesforce integration, custom software development, and modern cloud/platform solutions. You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery—partnering with business leaders, internal software engineering teams, and third-party vendors. The ideal candidate brings deep technical fluency across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), exceptional scope-guarding discipline, high emotional intelligence, and precision documentation capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder & Scope Management: Partner closely with Technology Enablement, core business units, and external software vendor partners to define project scope, deliverables, and measurable success metrics. Establish clear boundaries from day one; rigorously manage change controls and guard against scope creep while preserving key stakeholder alignment. Perform immediate "week-one discovery" to uncover latent technical dependencies, operational bottlenecks, and hidden project risks.
- Strategic Alignment & Governance: Collaborate directly with Program Management to align with enterprise program standards, focused heavily on quality management, compliance, and governance. Ensure all delivery tracks directly support broader technology portfolio objectives and enterprise strategy.
- Planning, Financials & Execution: Build, execute, and maintain critical-path project schedules utilizing Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid frameworks based on project requirements. Proactively track project financial health, burn rates, resource allocation, and vendor milestone billing. Deliver transparent, data-driven status reports highlighting progress, milestone completion, financial health, and key decision gates.
- Risk Mitigation & Candid Reporting: Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues across the delivery lifecycle. Provide objective, unvarnished feedback on project timelines and health, prioritizing transparency and long-term project viability over internal sentiment.
- Team Leadership & Vendor Management: Guide cross-functional technical teams (developers, architects, QA, BAs) and third-party vendors to maintain momentum and achieve delivery milestones. Drive accountability across vendor SOWs, deliverables, and strict acceptance criteria.
- Precision Documentation & Continuous Artifact Excellence: Produce and maintain pristine project artifacts (project charters, risk logs, dependency maps, status decks, and handover documents). Ensure documentation and reporting are sufficiently clear and comprehensive that a successor could step in seamlessly without any loss of momentum.
Qualifications
- 6+ Years of dedicated experience managing complex IT and software projects with a strong focus on business process transformation and organizational change management.
- 3+ Years managing cross-functional teams and external vendors on large-scale, high-visibility enterprise initiatives.
- Proven track record leading Salesforce platform implementations/customizations and software development projects in a mid-to-large enterprise environment (financial services/banking context is a strong asset).
Technical Fluency & Skills
- SDLC Expertise: Deep working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), enabling effective collaboration with enterprise software architects, developers, Salesforce engineers, and vendor technical leads.
- Methodological Versatility: Proficient in Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Waterfall, and Hybrid project delivery methodologies, with the flexibility to select and adapt frameworks as needed.
- Financial & Resource Mastery: Hands-on ability to baseline scope, track project burn rates, analyze variances, and optimize resource schedules.
- Tool Agnostic: Expert proficiency across project and work management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Azure DevOps, SmartSheet, or equivalent enterprise tools).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- High EQ & Relationship Management: Ability to immediately read the room, establish trust with executive sponsors, cross-functional leads, and external partners without requiring long-term rapport building.
- Communication Excellence: Exceptional verbal and written messaging; capable of translating complex architectural/technical details into concise, business-focused language for senior executives.
- Outcome-Oriented Mindset: Relentlessly focused on driving tangible business outcomes and key delivery milestones over activity tracking or "busy work."
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and direct industry experience).
- Certifications (Hiring Manager Criteria)
- Required / Highly Preferred: PMP® (Project Management Professional) – PMI, PMI-ACP® (PMI Agile Certified Practitioner) or CSM / PSM (Certified ScrumMaster)
- Asset / Strong Plus: Salesforce Certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Business Analyst, or Salesforce Associate) demonstrating platform familiarity. Prosci® or Organizational Change Management (OCM) certifications. SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) certification.
