We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with practical hospitality knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to improve processes and develop effective financial systems.
As we transition to an owner-managed operating model, this is an opportunity to help establish and develop a strong, efficient, and well-controlled property finance department.

- Oversee monthly and year-end closing, general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate and review work performed by external bookkeeping, accounting, and tax service providers, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and timely completion.
- Maintain financial reporting by department and business segment, including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Restaurant, Banquets, and Convention Centre operations.
- Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, and Canadian tax and regulatory obligations.
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls, approval procedures, segregation of duties, and audit trails.
- Oversee revenue reconciliation across the PMS, POS, banquet operations, merchant processors, and bank accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable, event deposits, vendor payables, cash management, payroll reconciliations, and outstanding balances.
- Maintain documented accounting procedures, clear responsibilities, and backup arrangements to ensure continuity of operations.
- Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, banks, and other professional advisers.
- Financial Planning & Business Performance
- Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and monthly financial performance.
- Work closely with the General Manager and department heads to understand operating results, control costs, and improve profitability.
- Provide actionable financial analysis and recommendations to Ownership and management.
- Monitor departmental labour costs, F&B profitability, purchasing, and revenue performance.
- Support cash flow management, debt obligations, lender reporting, FF&E reserves, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Support the transition of finance and accounting responsibilities from the existing management structure to the new owner-managed operation.
- Coordinate the implementation and ongoing operation of the property accounting platform and its integrations with hotel systems.
- Develop standardized accounting procedures, reconciliations, reporting templates, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, technology, and better financial processes.
- Train and support designated hotel team members on relevant financial procedures and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with demonstrated responsibility for financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting controls.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of general ledger accounting, month‑end closing, AP, AR, payroll reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience working with financial systems, accounting software, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, coordinate external service providers, and collaborate with hotel department heads.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Preferred
- Previous hotel or hospitality finance experience, particularly in a property with rooms, restaurant, banquet, or convention operations.
- Experience with hotel property management systems, such as OPERA, and cloud accounting platforms.
- CPA designation or progress toward a recognized accounting qualification.
- Experience with accounting‑system implementations, process improvements, financial reporting automation, or outsourced accounting arrangements.
What We're Looking For
An approachable, proactive financial leader who is comfortable being hands‑on while also seeing the bigger picture.
Someone who understands that successful hotel finance is not simply about producing accurate statements, but about supporting daily operations, protecting the business, empowering department heads, and helping ownership make better decisions.
This role offers the opportunity to help shape the property's financial operations and play a meaningful part in its next stage of growth.
