This Cafeteria Worker reports to the Lead Cafeteria Worker and supports the School Lunch Program. The position involves food preparation, service, kitchen duties, and student interaction. You will follow Nova Scotia Public Schools food standards while promoting food equity and local, minimally processed foods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve food for the school community
- Complete temperature, cleaning, and food waste logs
- Follow food safety standards throughout food service
- Serve students efficiently, positively, and without judgment
- Clean work areas and restock kitchen supplies
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Food Safety Training, provided through job training if needed
- Food service experience or training preferred
- Understanding of food allergies and food-related conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand extensively
Support student-centered food service through safe preparation, respectful communication, and dependable cafeteria operations within the School Lunch Program.
