Job Summary:

As a Business Analyst in the Pension Product and Technology Group's Pension Core Team, you will translate pension business needs into clear, testable, and traceable requirements and support the delivery and ongoing reliability of the platforms and processes used to administer member and employer services. You will work with product, actuarial, technology, vendor, and quality engineering partners to analyze changes and issues, define expected outcomes, plan and execute testing, manage defects, support releases, and maintain operational and solution documentation. This role combines business analysis with hands-on quality assurance and operational support. It is suited to someone who can bridge product and technology, apply sound judgment to complex pension scenarios, and drive work from initial analysis through validation and implementation.

What you will do:

  • Business analysis and requirements: Elicit, analyze, clarify, and document business, system, and operational requirements for enhancements, projects, regulatory changes, and production issues. Review requirements, solution documentation, acceptance criteria, and vendor deliverables for completeness, feasibility, testability, and alignment with business needs. Translate business processes and pension scenarios into clear acceptance criteria, process flows, test conditions, and Gherkin scenarios, where appropriate. Maintain traceability between requirements, test coverage, defects, decisions, and release outcomes using approved team tools and baseline documentation.
  • Test planning and execution: Develop risk-based test strategies, test grids, scenarios, test data, and detailed test cases for functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, user acceptance, cyclical, and release testing. Coordinate and execute testing across applicable systems, interfaces, calculations, documents, and operational processes. Partner with product and actuarial subject-matter experts to confirm expected outcomes and obtain appropriate review or approval of test scenarios and results. Document test evidence and results in accordance with team standards and support release-readiness and go/no-go decision-making. Use data analysis techniques and SQL queries to investigate issues, validate processing outcomes, support testing activities, and confirm business results.
  • Defect and issue management: Identify, document, triage, and track defects and requirement gaps, including clear reproduction steps, expected and actual outcomes, supporting evidence, impact, and severity. Collaborate with developers, vendors, business partners, and other testing teams to investigate issues, confirm root cause where available, validate fixes, and assess regression impact. Retest defect fixes and perform targeted regression testing to confirm that changes resolve the issue without introducing unintended impacts. Support release planning, test execution, implementation readiness, production validation, and post-release follow-up.
  • Collaboration and continuous improvement: Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, Actuarial, Developers, Systems Developers, vendors, and other technology teams throughout the delivery lifecycle. Work with quality engineering partners to identify test cases suitable for automation, clarify expected business behaviour, and support sustainable automated regression coverage. Identify opportunities to improve requirements quality, test coverage, traceability, documentation, tooling, and delivery processes. Use approved AI-enabled analysis, testing, and documentation tools to improve efficiency in requirements analysis, test design, traceability, documentation, and knowledge management, while ensuring outputs are reviewed, validated, and compliant with Pension Core and HOOPP's quality, security, privacy, and audit requirements. Share knowledge, coach new team members on team processes, and testing practices. Participate in the Team's activities, including standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Quality Assurance, or related role, preferably within pension administration, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of defined benefit pension administration, pension-related business processes, or comparable complex financial or operational systems.
  • Understanding of benefit calculations and the ability to analyze, validate, troubleshoot, and test calculation-related business scenarios and outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to understand complex business rules, identify risks, and evaluate impacts across systems, business processes, calculations, and operational workflows.
  • Experience eliciting, documenting, validating, and managing business requirements, including acceptance criteria, process flows, test scenarios, and traceability between requirements, testing, defects, and release outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience supporting testing activities, investigating defects, validating fixes, assessing regression impacts, and supporting production issue resolution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating with business stakeholders, actuarial partners, vendors, developers, and cross-functional technology teams.
  • Proficiency with SQL and the ability to investigate issues, validate processing outcomes, and support testing and operational activities.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or comparable tools for requirements management, test management, defect tracking, and traceability.
  • Experience supporting the delivery and ongoing support of technology solutions, including requirements analysis, testing, implementation, release readiness, production validation, and operational support.
  • Familiarity with Gherkin, behavior-driven development (BDD), Playwright, and test automation concepts, with the ability to identify automation opportunities and collaborate effectively with quality engineering teams to support sustainable regression coverage.
  • Experience using approved AI-enabled tools to support analysis, testing, documentation, and knowledge management while ensuring outputs are reviewed, validated, and compliant with organizational standards.
