About Us
HONK is modernizing parking payments across North America.
We help municipalities, universities, and private operators move from physical infrastructure to digital permits, mobile payments, and smarter operator tools.
We process hundreds of millions of dollars in payments a year and over 2 million transactions a month.
HONK has just been named to The Globe and Mail’s ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for the seventh consecutive year.
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly trusted IT Administrator to become our first dedicated in-house IT hire, reporting to our Head of Infrastructure.
You will be the go-to person for day-to-day corporate IT at a 70-person Saa S company, with a primary focus on employee onboarding and offboarding and running our internal helpdesk.
You’ll also implement IT and security initiatives across our devices, accounts, and tools, working from a roadmap set by your manager.
This is a hands‑on individual contributor role with room to grow as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Core focus
- Own employee onboarding and offboarding: hardware, accounts, and access provisioned by day one and revoked same-day at exit.
- Automate onboarding, offboarding, and other repetitive IT tasks using AI tools and scripts, so the IT function scales faster than headcount.
- Run our internal helpdesk: triage, resolve, and document IT issues across the company.
- Implementation
- Implement IT and security initiatives such as lightweight mobile application management and endpoint baseline enforcement (disk encryption, screen lock, EDR health).
- Administer Google Workspace day to day: user accounts, groups, org units, and security settings.
- Manage the device lifecycle through Iru endpoint management (formerly Kandji): procurement, enrollment, OS updates and patching, repairs, refresh cycles, and secure wiping of returned devices.
- Set up, license, and administer our core Saa S tools, handle access requests, and help evaluate new tools.
- Maintain the IT asset inventory and write clear runbooks and documentation.
- Run phishing simulation campaigns, enroll clickers into training, and track completion.
- Support the Infrastructure team during compliance engagements.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years in IT support or administration, ideally at a Saa S or tech company.
- Hands‑on experience running employee onboarding and offboarding and handling helpdesk requests.
- Google Workspace administration experience, including user provisioning, groups, and security settings.
- Experience with MDM/endpoint management in a mac OS‑first environment (Iru/Kandji, Jamf, or Mosyle); enough Windows familiarity to support a small number of exceptions.
- Comfort using AI tools and scripting to automate repetitive work.
- Discretion and sound judgment: this role holds privileged access to many of our systems, and a background check is required.
- Clear, friendly communication skills; you’re the approachable face of IT across the company.
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.
- Bonus Points
- EDR experience (Crowd Strike preferred).
- SSO/Id P administration (Okta, Google, Jump Cloud).
- Security awareness tooling (Know Be4 or similar).
- Apple Business Manager zero‑touch deployment.
- Certifications: Google Workspace Administrator, Jamf, Comp TIA A+, Security+, or similar.
Compensation & Benefits
- Work Environment: Hybrid from our mid-town Toronto office 2+ days/week.
- Benefits Package: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage.
