Dartmouth, Nova Scotia | Hybrid flexibility

Build your career within a growing real estate business where you can work closely with experienced finance leaders, contribute to development projects and help shape how the finance function operates.

Your New Employer

Our client is a privately held real estate organization with operations spanning development, construction, rental properties and complementary businesses. With several major projects approaching construction, a growing rental portfolio, and plans to implement Yardi Voyager, the organization is expanding its finance team to support its next stage of growth. This is an entrepreneurial environment where finance contributes directly to business decisions. You will have the opportunity to understand how projects are developed, financed, built and operated while helping establish the reporting, systems and processes that support that activity.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will work closely together across accounting, financial reporting, analysis and projects. Your responsibilities will include supporting year-end reporting, preparing ownership and partnership reports, investigating variances and contributing to cash flow forecasts, financial models and development reporting across a complex group of companies. An early priority will be supporting a Yardi implementation, including planning, preparation, reporting and process improvements. As your knowledge develops, you will have the opportunity to become a key systems resource, helping colleagues with workflows and training. You will also gain exposure to construction reporting, financing initiatives and corporate restructuring. Initially an individual contributor, you will receive guidance while taking increasing ownership of meaningful work. The role offers scope to influence processes and develop into broader responsibilities, including future people leadership.

What Sets You Apart

You bring a CPA designation, or are very close to completion, alongside approximately three to five years of progressive accounting, audit, reporting or analytical experience. A strong Senior Accountant from public practice, particularly audit or assurance, could be well suited, as could someone bringing relevant industry experience. Your business understanding is as important as your technical foundation. You are curious about why results occur, understand how they affect operations and can translate financial information into practical insights. Strong English communication and comprehension, sound judgment and the ability to explain your thinking clearly to financial and non-financial colleagues are essential. You are ambitious, willing to learn and comfortable taking initiative when a process or answer is not already established. Strong Excel skills and a solid accounting foundation are important. Experience with real estate, construction, partnerships, financial modelling, or Yardi would be valuable, along with a genuine interest in the business.

What You Can Expect

This opportunity offers close access to experienced finance leaders and practical exposure across the real estate lifecycle. You will contribute to live projects; learn how financial decisions affect the wider business and help improve the systems and reporting that support its growth. Your ideas and contributions will be visible. Progression will reflect capability, performance and business needs, with potential to grow toward Assistant Controller, Controller or broader finance leadership responsibilities.

Our client is offering a base salary range of $85,000–$100,000, plus comprehensive health and dental benefits, three weeks' vacation, and a discretionary bonus. Hybrid working and flexibility around daily hours are available depending on the professional, with greater office presence during onboarding.
