The Sr Area Operations Manager provides hands‑on leadership across multiple ready‑mix operations in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, overseeing production, maintenance, logistics, safety, employee performance, and customer service. This role requires a visible, people‑focused leader who can drive operational excellence, support employee development, and ensure safe and efficient operations across a multi‑site environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide hands‑on, day‑to‑day leadership to direct reports, batch plant operators, and drivers, ensuring operational priorities and performance expectations are met.
- Oversee production activities, maintenance programs, and heavy equipment management to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Interview and support the selection and onboarding of drivers and other operational employees in partnership with Human Resources.
- Manage employee performance and conduct matters, including coaching, documentation, corrective action, and discipline, in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
- Champion safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement through regular field presence, clear communication, and consistent follow‑up.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize production, logistics, staffing, service delivery, budgets, resources, and performance metrics while building a culture of accountability, engagement, and development.
What Are We Looking For
- Must be fully bilingual (English/French) to support operations across provinces.
- Demonstrated hands‑on leadership experience in ready‑mix concrete operations, coaching, developing, and managing employee performance.
- Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and decision‑making capabilities, with working knowledge of operational equipment, maintenance, and mechanical processes.
- Ability to lead change, reinforce accountability, develop bench strength, and drive performance in a dynamic operating environment.
- Familiarity with regional regulations and industry best practices.
- Aggregate operations experience and SAP experience are considered assets.
- Experience managing multi‑site operations and balancing priorities across multiple locations; experience in a unionized environment is strongly preferred.
