We create buildings, brands and shared experiences that connect people - all driven by a genuine spirit of curiosity and care.

We are interdisciplinary by intention.

Architects, designers, researchers, strategists, and storytellers all working together to create the lasting change we want to see in our communities.

And that’s where (we hope!) you come in.

About the Role

Behind every project are stories about people, ideas, and the impact design can have on our communities.

We’re looking for a Marketing and Communications Specialist who can uncover those stories and help us share them.

As an integral member of our Marketing team, you’ll develop content and communications that showcase hcma ’s projects, expertise, values, and impact.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you’ll work closely with project teams, firm leaders, and marketing colleagues to turn complex ideas into clear, compelling stories.

You’ll lead the day-to-day management of our website, social media, and digital communications, coordinate campaigns and industry events, and contribute to photography, press materials, award submissions, and speaking opportunities.

This role brings together thoughtful storytelling and hands-on coordination.

If you’re a curious communicator who enjoys asking questions, connecting with people, and bringing ideas to life across different channels, we’d love to hear from you.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Interview project teams, subject matter experts, and firm leaders to uncover stories that showcase hcma ’s expertise, values, and impact.
  • Write and edit compelling content for website articles, case studies, news posts, social media, email campaigns, presentations, and press releases.
  • Manage hcma ’s website, social media channels, and e-newsletter, keeping content current, engaging, and aligned with our marketing priorities.
  • Coordinate integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, events, and external communications channels.
  • Manage hcma ’s participation in conferences, trade shows, and industry events, and coordinate marketing and community-building events in our offices.
  • Support project photography and the development of press kits, marketing collateral, and visual assets that reflect hcma ’s brand.
  • Coordinate award submissions and support firm leaders with speaking proposals and conference presentations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of marketing processes, tools, templates, and content libraries.
  • What You’ll Bring
  • A degree or diploma in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related discipline, and 4–7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience creating content and communications for architecture, engineering, planning, design, or related industries.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and proofreading skills, with the ability to make complex ideas accessible and engaging.
  • Strong listening, interviewing, and relationship-building skills, with confidence collaborating with project teams, subject matter experts, and senior leaders.
  • A strong understanding of content and digital marketing, with experience managing websites, social media, and multiple communications channels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including In Design; familiarity with content management, email marketing, and social media tools; and an appreciation for visual communication.
  • Experience in coordinating awards submissions, events, photography, presentations, or public relations activities is an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • A collaborative, curious, and proactive approach, with the initiative to work independently and adapt as priorities evolve.
