About Our Client
Harbinger Network Inc. is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an established civil infrastructure and heavy construction contractor. With a dedicated Project Delivery team supported by in-house Survey & Geomatics, Estimating, Finance and Equipment groups, our client is adding a Project Coordinator who wants to grow into project management.
About the Role
This is not an admin role. As a core member of the Project Delivery team, you'll own the project-control systems that keep projects on track β drawings, RFIs, submittals, changes, procurement, subcontracts, invoices and billing β from contract award through closeout. You'll work alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent so that nothing slips through the cracks and every open item has an owner and a date.
Key Responsibilities
- Project startup: set up project files and control logs (RFI, submittal, drawing, change order, procurement, subcontract and notice registers) at award.
- Document control: maintain the drawing register, distribute revisions and ensure the field is building from current IFC drawings.
- RFIs & submittals: prepare, issue and track RFIs and shop drawings through to closure, following up on overdue responses.
- Change management: log potential changes and site instructions, collect daily extra-work backup and track contractual notice deadlines.
- Procurement & subcontracts: track purchase orders, material deliveries and subcontract compliance (insurance, WSIB, bonding).
- Cost & billing support: track supplier and subcontractor invoices, cost-code allocation, holdbacks and quantities for monthly progress billing.
- Meetings & schedule: prepare minutes and action-item logs, and support milestone tracking and weekly lookaheads.
- Closeout: assemble as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals and deficiency lists progressively throughout the project.
Qualifications
- 3β7 years of experience supporting construction project-management teams; civil infrastructure or heavy construction strongly preferred.
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field (preferred).
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications, with a working knowledge of construction contracts.
- Understanding of project cost control, change orders and progress billing.
- Experience with Jonas Construction Software or a similar project-management system.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication and the confidence to escalate issues early.
What's Offered
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- A clear career path: Project Coordinator β Project Manager β Senior Project Manager, based on capability, not years of service.
- Hands-on exposure to procurement, contract administration, cost control and scheduling on major civil projects.
