Are you an experienced architect who loves the details, takes real ownership of your projects, and wants to impact the skyline of Ottawa? If you are passionate and optimistic about the profession of architecture and are looking for a collaborative, supportive team where talent and work ethic are truly valued, we would love to speak with you. Our client, a progressive, award-winning Ottawa architecture and interior design practice, is seeking a Senior Architect / Project Lead to join its growing team.

The firm’s portfolio includes a diverse range of urban infill, multi-unit residential, commercial, and interior fit-up projects, including large-scale residential buildings and high-rise towers. With a strong and growing project pipeline, this is an opportunity to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful contribution to significant projects from design through construction.

The Senior Architect / Project Lead will oversee a project or series of projects while directing a production team. You will lead the team through the completion of a solid set of contract documents, provide clear direction, and roll up your sleeves to support production when needed. Working closely with the firm’s leadership group, you will manage consultants to ensure milestones and deadlines are met and bring a meticulous approach to construction administration.

You will apply your knowledge of the building code to multi-unit residential projects to create efficient floor plates and ensure the intent of the design is carried through to the smallest aspect of each project. You will be trusted with ownership of your work, without micromanagement, and with the support of an experienced leadership team behind you when you need it.

Keys to Success

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in architecture, including proven expertise in Part 3 buildings with both concrete and wood structures. Experience with multi-unit residential projects is a strong asset, and we also encourage candidates with an institutional background who want to change direction to apply. The firm values talent, common sense, people skills and work ethic, so exceptional candidates who are slightly earlier in their careers will also be considered.

Proficiency in Revit is essential. You should be comfortable navigating and working within models and directing others. Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Procore and other construction administration platforms, along with the Microsoft Office suite, is required. A degree from a program recognized by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) is preferred. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required.

Above all, the successful candidate will take ownership of their projects and responsibilities, communicate openly, and thrive in a team-based, open-concept office where colleagues regularly collaborate to solve problems together.

What We Offer

This is an excellent opportunity to work on genuinely exciting projects with a cohesive, dedicated team that enjoys testing boundaries and questioning assumptions. The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, three weeks of vacation to start and paid sick days. The comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, prescription drug, life and long-term disability coverage, is 100% employer-paid. Parking, professional association dues and relevant continuing education are also covered.

The firm works primarily from its downtown office, close to transit, restaurants and countless amenities, on a 37.5-hour work week with flexible start times. The team enjoys regular social events in a collegial atmosphere. Most importantly, this is a workplace that invests in the professional growth of its people and offers authentic room to develop your skills.
