Process accurate bi-weekly payroll with Halifax Public Libraries at Alderney Gate Public Library in a full-time, permanent Finance position.
As Payroll Coordinator, you will carry out system-wide payroll functions under the Assistant Manager, Payroll & Finance. The work includes auditing, reconciliations, employee inquiries, and payroll-system updates. Accuracy must reflect collective agreements, policies, procedures, legislation, and tight payroll deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process, analyze, calculate, audit, and enter bi-weekly payroll data
- Investigate employee payroll concerns and respond to agency inquiries
- Audit payroll data and take corrective action when necessary
- Monitor leave entitlements and reconcile terminations, leaves, and overpayments
- Maintain payroll documentation, tracking sheets, and files
Requirements:
- Two years post-secondary education and two years related experience
- Or Grade twelve equivalent and four years related experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organization skills
- Knowledge of payroll, employment, EI, WCB, and privacy legislation
- Microsoft Office and SAP/HR or payroll-system experience
