The ideal candidate is an experienced machining or machine assembly professional who combines strong technical knowledge with practical manufacturing leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple custom builds simultaneously.

While many of the company’s scheduling, purchasing, and production coordination processes can be taught, the ability to accurately assess job requirements, develop reliable quotations, and apply sound manufacturing judgment is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking a stable, long-term career with an ownership group known for its integrity, loyalty, and commitment to its employees.

  • Work closely with shop-floor personnel to address production challenges, resolve scheduling conflicts, and maintain workflow.
  • Provide direction and support to existing shop-floor leaders responsible for day-to-day machining and assembly activities.
  • Monitor progress across multiple custom machinery builds and proactively address potential delays or resource constraints.

  • Act as the primary link between engineering and manufacturing, resolving design-related questions and technical issues that arise during production and assembly.
  • Review engineering drawings and related documentation to support manufacturability, production planning, and accurate job costing.
  • Work with engineering personnel to clarify design intent, identify practical manufacturing solutions, and minimize production disruptions.
  • Utilize Solid Works and Excel to support manufacturing coordination, drawing review, planning, and reporting.
  • Quoting, Estimating & Job Costing
  • Prepare quotations and pricing estimates for machine-build-only projects and related manufacturing work.
  • Assess project scope, engineering drawings, machining requirements, assembly labour, materials, and anticipated production hours to establish accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Apply practical manufacturing experience and historical job knowledge to develop reliable estimates.
  • Evaluate previous builds and actual production requirements to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Identify potential cost risks, unusual manufacturing requirements, and other factors that may affect project profitability.
  • Purchasing & Material Coordination
  • Oversee purchasing requirements for custom machinery builds, ensuring materials, components, tooling, and outside services are available when needed.
  • Coordinate with Office Assistant, who supports the collection of supplier pricing and delivery lead times.
  • Review purchasing requirements against production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Follow up on critical materials and supplier commitments to prevent interruptions to machining and assembly operations.
  • Project Management & Customer Coordination
  • Work closely with the company’s Project Managers to coordinate build schedules, production milestones, and customer delivery commitments.
  • Communicate manufacturing progress, scheduling concerns, and technical issues that may affect project timelines.
  • Assist in resolving build-related challenges and support timely responses to customer requirements.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, develop, and support a manufacturing workforce typically consisting of approximately 16–20 employees across machining and assembly.
  • Oversee hiring for shop-floor positions and contribute to workforce planning and staffing decisions.
  • Establish clear expectations for performance, productivity, workmanship, accountability, and workplace conduct.
  • Provide fair, consistent leadership while addressing performance issues and making difficult operational decisions when required.
