Privately Owned Hotel Group β Ontario & Quebec
Based in Ottawa | Fluent English and French required
You've outgrown the reporting line. You're a Regional Director of Operations or an Area General Manager. You supervise GMs, you carry a portfolio P&L, and you're good at it. What you don't have is a decision that ends with you. Every capital request, every GM hire, every corrective action climbs through a region, into a division, and out to a corporate office that has never walked your properties. This seat reports to Ownership.
The opportunity:
- Our client is a privately owned Canadian hotel group β roughly 800 keys across five properties in Ontario and Quebec, full-service and select-service under multiple major international flags, plus a substantial conference and banquet operation.
- Ownership has run the portfolio closely for years and is now building the executive layer that lets them step back. You are that layer.
What you'll own:
- Portfolio operating performance β revenue, GOP and GOP margin, labour productivity, departmental profitability.
- The General Managers: selection, development, performance expectations, compensation review, and replacement when it comes to that.
- Structured monthly P&L reviews at every property, with corrective plans where the numbers warrant them.
- Commercial performance alongside Sales and Revenue Management β occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and RGI, group and corporate production.
- Brand relationships, quality assurance inspections, guest satisfaction and property improvement obligations.
- Senior oversight of a large-format conference and banquet operation β banquet profitability, food cost, labour productivity, sales performance.
- Capital planning with Ownership: prioritizing CapEx and protecting the long-term value of the assets.
Who you are:
- 10β15+ years of progressive hotel management, with multi-property responsibility.
- You have directly supervised hotel General Managers β not assisted them. If you have run one hotel brilliantly but never held a GM accountable for a miss, this is not that step.
- Full-service operational depth, with command of hotel P&L and GOP.
- Major international brand experience; Marriott given strong preference.
- Fluent in English and French, fully comfortable conversing interchangeably in either language.
- Based in Ottawa or prepared to relocate to the National Capital Region. Travel within the National Capital Area and throughout Quebec.
Compensation:
$175,000β$250,000 CAD base, target annual bonus of approximately 25%, automobile allowance, executive benefits and paid vacation. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the stated range.
