Role Overview
Supervise, coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of the day-to-day milling process.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervising the operating crews in the primary crushing circuits, the copper and molybdenum concentrators, tailings storage facility, environmental ponds, and water systems.
- Initiating and expediting work orders for on-shift maintenance and repair.
- Recommending changes and modifications to company policies, personnel and equipment.
- Motivating crews in proper operating practices, good housekeeping, fostering a solid team atmosphere while maintaining a safe, disciplined work environment.
- Correcting operating problems and notifying senior management of any prolonged production variance.
- Requesting services from other departments as required.
- Approving timecards, carrying out planned job evaluations and area audit inspections, conducting safety meetings and employee performance appraisals.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years experience in a mining environment with crushing, grinding, flotation and dewatering, 3 years previous supervisory experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge or experience with SAG milling would be desirable and previous experience with an SX-EW operation and/or in maintenance would be an asset.
- Familiarity with a Distributed Control System (DCS) and Expert System would be a definite asset.
- Computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
