A Day in the Life of a GFL Mechanic:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks and heavy-duty equipment.
- Utilize various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge diagnostic equipment.
- Complete daily reports, work orders, and part procurement.
- Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system.
- Collaborate on mechanical write-ups and coordinate regional repair schedules.
What’s Required:
- Certification: Completion of a recognized Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship and current Red Seal or B.C. Journeyperson certification.
- Licensing: Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely.
- Experience: Proven expertise in diagnosing and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Safety: Ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions per Company standards.
- Physicality: Ability to exert physical effort, including lifting items up to 100 lbs.
