Reporting to the Payroll Division Chief, the Payroll Manager supervises operational staff processing payroll for all City employees. You will coordinate weekly payroll, protect data integrity, and meet production deadlines. The position requires strong knowledge of compensation laws, databases, and computerized payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and control weekly payroll processes
- Supervise operational staff processing weekly payroll
- Communicate processing issues to the HR service center
- Ensure reliable payroll system data changes
- Provide effective customer service for payroll operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting sciences or administration
- Eight years of payroll processing experience in unionized environments
- Very good knowledge of tax rules and compensation laws
- Very good knowledge of databases and Excel
- Good knowledge of computerized payroll management systems
