For decades, insurance software has been built around rigid forms, portals and call centers that create friction for customers and drag for teams. Even as AI has advanced, most insurance work is still manual, slow and spread across disconnected systems. General Magic builds AI agents that handle quoting, follow-ups, document collection, verification, claims intake and broker communication, connected directly to carrier, MGA and broker systems. We've raised $7.2M USD from Radical Ventures, a16z and several AI luminaries. We reward people who thrive with high autonomy, love shipping quickly and want real ownership. We work onsite in Toronto five days a week.
The role involves working directly with brokers and carriers to turn messy, ambiguous insurance workflows into working AI automations, getting them into production, and iterating fast with users in the loop. In this role, you will:
- Embed with customers to understand how their work actually gets done
- Break vague asks like "automate our renewals" into a clear, scoped plan
- Build multi-step AI workflows using agents, tools, APIs and browser automation
- Deploy to production, write evals for the outcomes that matter, and monitor real usage
- Run customer conversations, manage expectations and drive adoption
For this role, you should have:
- A track record of shipping AI workflows end to end, not just demos
- Hands-on experience with frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph, agentic tools and APIs
- Comfort with ambiguity and a habit of turning it into a plan
- Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders
- Experience writing evals and running production deployments
Nice to have:
- Insurance or insurtech background
- Fine-tuning experience
Compensation includes $120-200k, equity, new MacBook Pro and more.
