Business Development Manager in Calgary

Remote (Calgary-focused) · Reports to the President · Base + uncapped commission

About the Company

Our client is a Calgary-based recruitment partner to some of Canada’s highest-volume employers — organizations hiring hundreds to thousands of people a year for the revenue-critical roles that keep their businesses running. Led by a founder with three decades in the industry, the company leads with an advisory, consultative approach, and has been fully remote for over a decade, running on results rather than hours.

The Role

A true hunter’s seat: new-logo, outbound, cold business development — opening new corporate accounts from a cold start and carrying them all the way to close. This is not account management or an inherited client list. You’ll own new business end to end: prospecting, cold outreach, discovery, and closing, selling consultatively into corporate HR and talent‑acquisition budgets. The territory is Western Canada, and you’ll travel to close deals in person as they require — deals can be located anywhere in the region.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate your own pipeline through disciplined, daily cold outreach — calls, email, and LinkedIn — working an established sequence built in the company’s CRM (HubSpot).
  • Research every prospect before you reach out, and lead with their problem: quantify the cost of leaving revenue‑critical roles unfilled.
  • Manage your pipeline rigorously in HubSpot — logging activity, keeping deals current, and working to clear weekly and monthly activity targets.
  • Operate as a self‑managed professional in a remote, results‑only environment: show up, hit your numbers, keep your commitments (including a standing weekly check‑in with the President), and communicate proactively.

Tools of the Trade (baseline requirement)

This is a modern sales role, and proficiency with the fundamental tools is expected on day one — we will bring you up to speed on our advisory service, but not on how to sell in 2026. You should already be fluent and comfortable with:

  • CRM / HubSpot (or a comparable platform) — managing pipeline, stages, and activity.
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator — prospecting, research, and outreach.
  • AI and research tools (e.g., ChatGPT) — to research accounts, sharpen messaging, and work efficiently.
  • A genuine comfort with technology and an openness to adopting new tools quickly.

What We’re Looking For

  • A true hunter with a demonstrable, current track record — recent examples of generating pipeline and opening cold accounts, not a single success story from years ago.
  • Self‑motivated and disciplined — someone who does the work daily without being managed, and whose habits and routines back that up.
  • A consultative, advisory approach — listening first, quantifying the client’s problem, and tailoring a solution.
  • Adaptable and always sharpening — committed to keeping skills, tools, and approach current.
  • Above all, genuine motivation for this kind of role and a strong, visible work ethic.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped 10% commission on every deal closed.
  • Three weeks’ vacation; health spending account effective after successful completion of the 90‑day probation; fully remote with a company‑supported home office.
  • Ideally based in Calgary. Next preference is to be on Alberta (Mountain) time zone and willing to travel to close deals, which can be located anywhere in Western Canada.
