About the opportunity:
We're seeking a detail-oriented professional to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Your expertise will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting our organization. Bring your technical expertise, sound judgment, and a people-first approach to our Canadian payroll operations. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely payroll, navigating complex payroll questions, and supporting reliable financial reporting.

Your impact will extend across the full payroll cycle, including:

  • Bi-weekly processing and employee inquiries
  • Reconciliations
  • Year-end reporting
  • Audit support

As a trusted resource for employees and managers, you’ll make payroll information clear and accessible while handling sensitive information with care. You’ll also help shape how we work by identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, simplify workflows, and iterating on how we use our HRIS and ERP. This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and making payroll processes more efficient and dependable.

What you'll do:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll in ADP Workforce Now for Canadian employees; including timecard review, off-cycle calculations, deductions, taxable benefits and paid leave.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, employment standards and CRA requirements.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding payroll-related questions.
  • Prepare reporting to fund benefit-related deductions from employee’s pay - RRSP, HSA and various tax entities.
  • Maintenance and creation of various employee time off policies in the timekeeping system.
  • Create payroll journal entries for posting in NetSuite (ERP), including regular payroll, month end, and other adjustments.
  • Responsible for end of year payroll transactions - T4s, T4As and amendments, plus required federal and provincial filings.
  • Own payroll liability and GL reconciliations, and resolve variances before month-end close.
  • Maintain and test payroll controls, and support external audits.
  • Identify and lead process improvements and automation in ADP and NetSuite.
  • Act as the technical go-to for complex issues like multi-state tax registration, garnishments, ROEs, and CPP/EI corrections.
  • Manage provincial workers’ compensation reporting and payments (e.g., WorkSafeBC) and employer health tax filings.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Canadian payroll experience, including full-cycle processing and year-end.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Workspace skills.
  • Ability to multitask on multiple projects at any given time.
  • US payroll exposure and project management experience are a plus.
