Responsibilities & Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You are an experienced, relationship-driven Technical Sales professional with a proven ability to develop new business and build lasting customer relationships.
  • You understand the Western Canadian commercial, industrial and government project landscape and bring a strong background in outside sales, contract sales, procurement processes, and bid-spec projects.
  • You are comfortable navigating relationships with EPCs, general contractors, procurement teams, and end users, and understand how to position technical solutions within complex, project-driven sales environments.
  • You are proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable taking ownership of business development while working closely with technical and operational teams.
  • You can confidently represent fabrication, packaging, and engineered solutions and translate technical capabilities into value for customers.
  • You understand CAE’s current capabilities but are not limited by them.
  • You are curious, proactive, and willing to explore new markets and opportunities, including those that may require collaboration beyond CAE’s existing offering.
  • You are comfortable initiating internal conversations to determine how resources, expertise, or capabilities across sister companies and other areas of the organization can be leveraged to create broader solutions for customers.

About the Role:

As our Technical Sales professional, you will be responsible for expanding CAE’s fabrication, packaging, and engineered services business across Western Canada. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Fabrication, this is a new-business-focused outside sales role responsible for increasing CAE’s presence within commercial, industrial, and government markets and developing opportunities through EPCs, general contractors, procurement teams, and end users.

You will work closely with the Product Specialist, Engineered Projects and CAE’s internal technical, project and operational teams to ensure opportunities are strategically pursued from initial identification through quotation, bid submission, and award. Success in this role will also depend on strong communication and collaboration across Sales, Engineering, Project Management and Fabrication. The successful candidate will look beyond the immediate scope of CAE’s current offering, identify where additional value may be created, and help connect the right internal resources to pursue opportunities that make strategic and commercial sense.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development — Generate new opportunities for fabrication, packaging, and engineered services across commercial, industrial, and government sectors.
  • EPC & Contractor Engagement — Build and maintain strong relationships with EPCs and general contractors to ensure CAE is consistently included on bid lists.
  • Outside Sales Execution — Conduct site visits, client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to position CAE as a preferred partner.
  • Bid & Proposal Support — Work with internal teams to prepare quotations, proposals, and bid submissions aligned with customer specifications.
  • Market Intelligence — Track upcoming projects, procurement cycles, and industry trends to proactively identify opportunities.
  • Strategic Opportunity Development — Proactively explore new markets, applications, and customer needs beyond CAE’s current offering.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Maintain strong communication across Sales, Engineering, Project Management and Fabrication to identify broader customer solutions.
  • Cross‑Support for Engineered Projects — Collaborate with the Product Specialist, Engineered Projects to support fabrication and packaging opportunities.
  • Account Management — Maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring continuity, satisfaction, and repeat business.
  • Technical Consultation — Provide technical insight and guidance to customers, leveraging knowledge of industrial equipment, rotating equipment, or compressed air systems.
  • Pipeline & Reporting — Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and activity reports for the General Manager of Fabrication.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in contract sales and procurement processes within commercial, industrial, or government sectors.
  • Strong existing network of EPCs, general contractors, industrial and government clientele across Western Canada.
  • Experience with compressed air equipment and systems is a major asset; experience with rotating equipment or other industrial equipment is also suitable.
  • Demonstrated success in outside sales, business development, and technical solution selling.
  • Ability to read and interpret bid specifications, drawings, and engineered project requirements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities beyond an existing product or service offering and collaborate across functions or business units to develop customer-focused solutions.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a long‑cycle, project‑driven sales pipeline.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Western Canada.
