Use advanced SQL and performance tuning to support reliable enterprise databases for FirstOntario Credit Union in hybrid Hamilton, Ontario.
The Operational Database Administrator manages Microsoft SQL Server environments spanning on-premises and cloud platforms. This position supports database health, production availability, security, capacity, and performance for business applications and banking systems. Azure SQL Managed Instance experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and tune SQL queries, procedures, indexes, and configurations
- Identify database bottlenecks, performance issues, and capacity constraints
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational automation
- Support high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery
- Participate in production on-call support rotations
Requirements:
- Five or more years administering enterprise production databases
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience
- Advanced SQL query writing and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with monitoring and database performance management tools
- PowerShell, T-SQL, or scripting automation experience
